Karissa Obeso
Karissa Obeso has always had a passion for community outreach and networking and developed the ability to combine those passions in her professional life. Karissa moved to the Bay Area from Riverside CA in 1999. Like most college students, Karissa worked several jobs to support herself, including a part-time job at Banana Republic. At Banana Republic, Karissa launched into her first management role becoming the youngest Assistant Manager in the Bay Area, at that time. After leaving Banana Republic she had an opportunity to move into event planning, managing weddings and events at golf courses in the Bay Area. After working several years in retail and then event planning, Karissa, decided to make a huge career change to Real Estate securing a position with CBRE as the Property Marketing Specialist in October 2011. Throughout her career with CBRE she has worn many hats, developed the philanthropic voice and managed partnerships for the Oakland City Center and was promoted to Manager of the Oakland City Center Owner’s Association. Karissa sat on the board of the Downtown Oakland Association from 2011-2019.
Karissa has also been an active member of BOMA(Building Owners and Managers Association) since 2011, where she acted as the Vice Chair of the Emerging Professional group from 2013-2015, Chair of the Events Committee 2015-2019, and is currently the Chair of the Stake Holders Engagement group. In 2020 Karissa, along with two colleagues, started the Bay Area Chapter of CBRE’s African American Networking Group. Karissa’s positive attitude and genuine interest in others is reflected in everything she does. In 2020 Karissa received CBRE “Team player of the year” award for showing an exemplary support to team-mates, coworkers, vendors, and clients, and BOMA’s “Principal Member of the Year” award for her ongoing dedication and support of the organization. In her spare time Karissa enjoys camping, backpacking, and spending time with her family.
