Julie Taylor, CAE

Executive Director | BOMA Oakland/East Bay
Ms. Taylor has over thirty years of association management and meeting planning experience. She joined BOMA Oakland/East Bay as the Executive Director in June 2016. At BOMA, she has participated in the BAE Council, developing education and leadership skills for fellow BOMA Association Executives. She has excelled at achieving the organization’s goals: corporate sponsorship has grown 20%, luncheon participation has grown 40% and volunteerism is up 20%, the new committee structure and strategic plan that engages our Board and keeps the association developing. During COVID she adapted the organization's programs and services, membership has rebounded to pre-COVID levels and attendance at events are selling out.
Prior to that she was with the CWEA for sixteen years and leads the team working on education and training. She is highly experienced in negotiations and planning for events that consistently exceed goals and customer expectations. She has planned over 12,000 training events, for audiences of 10 to 2,500, serving more than 375,000 attendees. She has increased profitability of trainings by 25% overall, with many events seeing increased profits of 60%.
Ms. Taylor has over twenty years of marketing experience including five years at a San Francisco ad agency and five years at American Management Association. She also has five years experience in marketing research for product development, advertising effectiveness and customer profiles (users and non-users) for customers including Wham-O, Power Wheels, Sonoma Mission Inn and the SF Chronicle. She is experienced in qualitative and quantitative research, including moderation of focus groups.
During her five-year tenure at American Management Association, Ms. Taylor managed a Corporate Learning Delivery Team of seven, negotiated speaking rates for 1,200 faculty members, was responsible for performance management of staff and faculty and worked with internal and external sales force to increase sales. She served as liaison to other departments to improve processes and effectiveness.She has trained in project management and has extensive experience in planning projects from idea to implementation to feedback for improvement. Ms. Taylor is skilled and trained in strategic planning. She served on team that developed the operational process and strategic plan for AMA’s Corporate Learning Division that saw sales staff size double in one year.
Ms. Taylor has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Telecommunications and Film from San Diego State University, emphasis on management with a minor in advertising. She is also a Certified Association Executive (CAE) through the American Society of Association Executives since 2002.She has volunteered in CalSAE for over 15 years and served on the Board of Directors for 2021-2023.
