Backpack to Briefcase: Best Practices in RFP’s

When going through the RFP process, it is important to develop the criteria for your project early, not doing so is like navigating a ship without a rudder-it may eventually get to the destination, but the trip would be time consuming. In this series we will provide an overview of the basics, and some real world strategies from both the Property Management and Vendor sides. Our goal is to help you feel more confident managing your RFP from creation to what happens after you’ve successfully completed your RFP.

After the session, join us for happy hour and appetizers at Hops & Scotch nearby.

Target Audience:

This is for anyone who is new to the RFP process, who may not know what questions to ask, how to compare bids, what to look for.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will understand what an RFP is and what is involved in the process of creating a timeline.
  • Participants will know how to review RFP submissions and compare for proper evaluation for the Award Process.
  • Participants will know how to communicate to the vendors participating in the RFP process how/why they perhaps were not the chosen vendor.

3:00 PM: Check-in
3:30-5:00 PM: Facilitated discussion with speakers
5:00-7:00 PM: Networking and Happy Hour at Hops & Scotch

Ashley Gidel

Since her start at Gidel & Kocal Construction in 2007, Ashley has worked on a variety of projects including office, retail, medical, and life science. Ashley enjoys the challenge of high-rise tenant improvement and market ready projects; understanding that Class A high-rise and mid-rise buildings have special rules and considerations that don’t necessarily apply to standard office buildings. In 2021, Ashley took over as President, overseeing all project managers, company marketing, and overall company management, while taking a special interest in giving all company projects and clients her personal attention to ensure success every step of the way.

Amy Coffer

Amy Coffer serves as a Senior Real Estate Manager with CBRE Property Management for the San Francisco Bay Area. She presently oversees an office campus which includes two Class A offices and a mid-rise office building under construction in Berkeley. Amy has over 14 years’ experience in commercial real estate. Prior to joining CBRE in 2018, Amy was an Assistant Property Manager with Hines overseeing class A high rise office and historical mixed-use property in San Francisco. Much of her earlier career was spent on the construction management side of real estate at 555 California Street in San Francisco.
