New PG&E Energy Education Series

To reach the ambitious energy reduction and emissions goals set at the national and state levels, there must be a concerted effort to pursue improvements to our existing building stock. According to Next 10's study titled “Untapped Potential of Commercial Buildings Energy Use and Emissions,” these buildings represent 37% of California's total electricity consumption, and energy efficiency improvements using readily-available technologies could reduce the energy use of these facilities by 80 percent. The focus of this five-part Commercial Building Retrofit series is to give building stakeholders the guidance, tools, and motivation to upgrade existing buildings. The opportunity is vast and the time to act is now.
