Post Election Preparedness

In anticipation of potential civil unrest following the upcoming 2024 general elections, we want to ensure that all members are well-prepared to safeguard their commercial properties. Download a resource guide on best practices for securing your building and protecting your assets during uncertain times.
BOMA OEB has resources to help you prepare, including these helpful hints:
  • Review your emergency protocols with the building staff and tenants.
  • Be sure your business and home are well-lit. Good lighting increases visibility—and also increases the effectiveness of any video surveillance system.
  • If possible, park your car in a secure, off-street location
  • Bring in your trash receptacles or secure them.
  • Bring in any outdoor furniture, signs, flower pots or other unsecured fixtures that could be used to break a window.
  • If you have a surveillance system, be sure it is in good working order and is turned on. Save recordings to help document criminal activity.
Most Police Departments use a free, web-based application called NIXLE to provide timely updates to our community about traffic disruptions or suggested alternate transportation routes. If you still need to sign up for NIXLE, we encourage you to do so. Text your zip code to 888777 to opt-in, or visit www.nixle.com.

We will keep an eye on the situation and let you know of any updates and resources.
