FMA Credentials and Qualifications
A recent survey on facility management training emphasizes the importance of facilities credentials like the Facilities Management Administrator (FMA®) Designation.
In 2019, the Professional Facility Management Institute (ProFMI) and Building Operating Management magazine conducted the first Facility Management (FM) Training Outlook survey to determine the need for facility management training and credentials from both the employer and employee points of view. The survey was enhanced and repeated in 2021 to identify current needs for facility management training and credentials and how sentiments may have shifted from 2019.
One of the key findings was on the importance of Facility Management Credentials and Qualifications.
- 72% of Facility Managers say a credential or qualification is an influential factor in hiring or promoting facility management staff.
- 74% of Facility Managers say facility management training and credentials provide preparation for career advancement.
It is clear that facility management credentials and qualifications influence career advancement. BOMI's Facility Management Administrator (FMA) designation is a solution to provide Facility Managers with the knowledge and skills that they need to excel in their careers.
In the FMA® program, the student learns to manage facilities in a way that best supports tenants and staff, while meeting their organization's overall objectives. This program covers everything from planning and project management to environmental health and worker safety. In addition, it provides the information needed to minimize maintenance costs and properly manage other timely issues.
