Participate in a COVID 19 Impact Study

BOMA International is partnering with Brightline Strategies, a national real estate research firm, with a generous grant from Yardi, to conduct a COVID 19 impact study among commercial tenants.  This is the first of three studies: Q3 2020, Q4 2020, and Q1 2021. The multiple studies will enable us to problem solve and anticipate future needs for comparison as attitudes and information evolve in these ever-changing operating environments due to the impacts of COVID 19. Participation is open to all BOMA members.

If there is interest in joining the effort or learning more about the research, please contact either James Moore at Brightline Strategies (
jmoore@brightlinestrategies.com) or me (hchamberlain@boma.org).
The purpose of the study is to gain  direct from tenant decision-maker insights on:
  • The impact of the pandemic on their businesses (operational, financial, etc.), attitudes towards the physical work environment, and use/perceived value of office space.
  • The implications of such factors on space utilization/configuration preferences, and return-to-work planning practices.
  • Baseline renewal likelihood and reductions-in-space by tenant typology, asset class and market.
A number of BOMA members are already participating and the survey has been launched in a number of markets. However, there is still time for more member companies to contribute data. Why participate?
  1. While the study is national in scope, participants will receive the specific results and findings from their tenant respondents;
  2. The study is designed to be forward-thinking. Therefore, we will gain insights into what tenants have done but also what they are thinking or planning to do in the future.
  3. The results will be promoted widely and we will be hosting programs highlighting the findings so the more robust the data the more we learn..
