Can it truly be April already?  Before we know it, it will be time for Summer Vacations, the end of the school year, and then the Holidays!  And all through this, BOMA Oakland/East Bay continues to move forward and expand on our services we offer to you our members!

Our events continue to grow and sell out.  I highly encourage our members to register early for our upcoming events, such as our Annual Night at the A’s Game, scheduled for Wednesday June 11.  The 7:05 pm game will feature the Oakland A’s taking on the New York Yankees.  This is always a fun-filled event, with some great food and beverages provided by our Allied Members (such as August Supply, Perfection Sweeping, ABM, Waxie, Universal Protection Services, ThyssenKrupp Elevator, ABLE Services, and others).  Registration information is now available on our website.

Are you on the “Green Wagon” yet?  If not, check out the resources we have to offer on our website under our Members Only Section.  Our Environment Committee worked hard and put together a Green Guide with valuable resources for our members.  Also, speaking of Green, visit BOMA Intl. website at www.boma.org and view our upcoming Convention offers in Denver, Colorado June 22-24.  At the convention there will be seminars on Implementing Green Operations in Large Portfolios, Green Renovations Boost Bottom Line and Engage Tenants, Unlocking the Value of Energy Efficiency, BOMA’s 7 Point Challenge, and much more.  Please feel free to contact me in the BOMA office for more details.

Speaking of the 7 Point Challenge, in July 2007, BOMA issued perhaps its biggest challenge for commercial real estate professionals to date:  to improve energy efficiency across their portfolios by 30% by 2012.  The plan urges industry members to reduce their use of natural resources, non-renewable energy sources and waste production and work in coordination with building management, ownership and tenants.  BOMA Oakland/East Bay was the first to accept this challenge in California, and the other BOMA locals have followed suit.  We will be rolling out seminars and other information on how to help our buildings meet this challenge in the months to come.

As always, please feel free to call on me for any information that I can provide for you and I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event, seminar, or BOMI Class.

Executive Vice President
